What is Climate Change and How can We Help Prevent It?

After more than a hundred and fifty years of industrialization, deforestation and overly farming, the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere had increased reaching its highest record, and it gets worse as the population and the economics grow. Today the accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is huge, being the highest amount in the last 3 million years. We are currently suffering the consequences of that excessive accumulation in the atmosphere.

As a consequence of climate change there is less biodiversity, the size of the animal’s population decreased 60% on the last 40 years. In 2018 there were more than 45 squared miles of tropical forests lost. The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines deforestation as the “permanent removal of standing forests.”

Community, Loans, & Hope: How Restaurants are Staying Alive During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 claimed half a million lives and wreaked havoc on the economy, especially impacting small businesses. Restaurants and bars were among the hardest hit industries. According to the National Restaurant Association, 110,000 eating and drinking establishments were temporarily or permanently closed for business in 2020, with 2.5 million jobs erased. To be a restaurant owner in this era is to face unexpected challenges, but I wanted to talk to Gregory Keenan, owner of UNO Chicago Grill in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, to find out how he is faring through these difficult times.

It is important to find moments of hope, patience, and understanding in this day and age. Despite the United States rolling out 2.72 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines per day, the pandemic is still not over, and the economic impacts will still certainly be felt for quite some time. One of the best things that we can do as a country is to support our local businesses, and one of the best ways to do that right now is to each do our part to curb the spread of this deadly virus.

Life as an Essential Worker

In today’s society being essential is something unique and something that only few people can handle and at the start of this pandemic people were worried about working and the essential workers had to step up and put their lives at risk for others. So in this interview we will find out what it takes in order to survive this pandemic as a main worker in today’s society.

After hearing the interview I also just wanted to thank the essential workers for what they did during this pandemic and what they are still doing because of their actions. We are still a functioning community and they have also saved many lives.

Small Businesses During Covid

I don’t think anyone could’ve known how hard Covid – 19 would effect small business. People have had to face many different hardships during these times. Owner of Bobo’s Cafe, Glen Bernardi, had some words to say about how Covid has affected his businesses.

This is just one example of how a business has been able to overcome Covid. Other business’ unfortunately haven’t had the same success. Learning from Glen and how he’s been able to be so successful was a great opportunity for me that I am lucky to have got.

Teachers are Essential

Teaching children will never be an easy job. When the children have learning disabilities it makes the job even harder. When you throw in a global pandemic the job becomes essential. My mother experiences a lot of challenges caused by the pandemic like having children understand the importance of wearing a mask, Getting Autistic children to be engaged while teaching remotely and making personal lesson plans for the children.

The “F” is for Fitness – how F-45 can Improve Your Life

Anna Manessis, owner/trainer F45 Training-Mt. Kisco, NY

As busy Americans, we know that getting and staying in shape is something that’s not only hard to do, but it can also be hard to find time to even attempt it. But, as F45 gym owner/trainer, Anna Manessis shares with us below, if you’ve got 45 minutes to consistently spare a few times a week, “F45 Training” might just be the answer you’ve been looking for.

The name F45 refers to the 45-minute “functional” exercises offered in F45 gyms. The workouts in F45 gyms are a form of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with circuit training and functional training. All F45 workouts are given a name, and each one consists of a number of different exercises that are variations on the HIIT format, and the participants usually move through a series of stations with different exercise equipment in every workout.

On some days the workouts may be focused on cardio exercises, on others they may be focused on strength and resistance. Here’s a link to an independent and well-balanced look at F45 and what you can expect. Of course, results can and will vary depending on many factors. Click here for one woman’s personal take on what F45 did for her. And, for a more lighthearted look at F45, click here to find out what others might be thinking while they’re working out with the program.

F45 CEO Rob Deutsch, a former equities trader from Western Australia, co-founded the F45 concept/brand back in 2012. Building the business on a “high-paced, inclusive team workout strategy”, there are now more than 1300 outlets across the globe. F45 is suitable for both beginners and expert-level fitness consumers.

Of course, as with any fitness program, you’ll want to be certain to check with your doctor first. See the interactive map below for F45 gym locations in the nearby NY/CT area:

How Covid-19 has Pushed for Technology to be Implemented in the Education System

Working in the school system have never been much of challenge for most teachers but in March 2020 everything changed. The Coronavirus pandemic has massively disrupted the lives of everyone especially teachers who had to adapt quickly from in person to remote learning. I sat down to interview physical Education teacher Anthony Vaglica to talk about how the pandemic has forced technology to be implemented in the education system.

Education has changed is so many ways. With the help of Zoom, blended learning has integrated instructional technology and digital media to new heights giving students more flexibility to customize their learning experiences and teachers a new way to teach outside the classroom. Although the advantages may seem numerous, Anthony hopes that with sudden shift in education and technology becoming the new wave for many schools; schools can go back to the old model of teaching. But with Cuomo’s new partnership with Bill Gates, education in the classroom might look different in years to come.
