COVID-19 gave the Philippines a helping hand.

COVID-19 has impacted not just the United States but all over the world. The United States been on lockdown for over a year but places in Asia has been on lockdown for far longer. In small countries like the Philippines where air pollution has always affected the country. COVID has actually helped the Philippines see a better tomorrow. In this interview Ms. Elaine Quinajon, a science teacher in the Philippines will further explain Air Pollution in the Philippines, its effects and how COVID has changed things.

We can all agree that since COVID-19 made its way in the United States, that it has negatively impacted many. But for smaller counties it has actually somewhat helped not spread dirty air pollution which cause a high number of deaths. It has forced many schools to continue to be shut down and have less people on the road.  So as bad as COVID may be it has been a blessing to some.

Man Cried Fox News as a Defense for Capital Insurrection

Attorney for Capitol rioter who stole gas mask from police officer says his client had 'Foxitis' | Daily Mail Online

During a zoom hearing last Thursday, Anthony Antonio, who faces five charges over the role in the capital insurrection in January, provides a unique defense: Fox News made him do it. Anthony’s lawyer, Joseph Hurley, said the 27-year old spent the six months before the riots mainlining Fox News while unemployed, grasping every word spouted out of Fox News as if it were gospel truth.

Unfortunately, Anthony was one of the thousands who’d fallen prey to the persistent lies about the so-called “stolen election” being spread daily by Donald Trump along with right-wing network groups, Joseph Hurley said during a video hearing on Thursday.

“Fox television played constantly,” Anthony said and was interested in the political aspect and started believing what was being fed to him. The disease known as “Foxitus” or “Foxmania” was born according to Hurley.

Multiple videos obtained by the FBI from the day of the riot appear to show Antonio as especially active in the chaos. He is seen wearing a bulletproof vest featuring a patch of the anti-government extremist group, Three Percenters. At one point in video footage, he can be seen shouting at officers: “You want war? We got war. 1776 all over again.”

Antonio is seen in another video with a riot shield that appeared to be stolen from law enforcement, squirting water on an officer as they were being dragged into a crowd, and jumping through a broken window into the Capitol.

Despite the unorthodox defense, Antonio’s segment was somehow only the second most notable part of the hearing, according to The Guardian.  Another defendant shouted profanities in a zoom hearing that same day, sending the proceedings into disarray.

Video Games Stress Relieving or Stress Inducer for Kids during Pandemic?

Covid has not only impacted many adults causing much stress but sadly has increased the number of children playing video games in America. As Adrian , my little brother, tells us ”   Because they can make you frustrated and if you get too frustrated then it can make you sick.”

Adrian, my little brother, gives advice from a kids point of view on how this situation can be handled and how parents can be better if not more informed on how this can negatively impact your child. Adrian finishes with stating what a healthy limit is so everyone is happy.

A life hit by the pandemic

The covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone in ways we did not expect. There is a group that over the years has begun to grow and that is the group of professional video game players. In this pandemic this group has been very affected since they came with a growth in popularity and very great support but due to the pandemic they have had to stop. Today I present the case of Johnathan, a 19-year-old young man who has gradually been growing in the industry and who was even taking small steps in this industry.

Jonathan is a 19-year-old young man who has been a fan of the call of duty saga from a very young age. At the age of 14 he began to take this hobby more seriously and began to compete in online tournaments with his team.

In the interview Johnathan talks about a page where he met his teammates, here is that page so that you too can meet new people in the industry and maybe you will become part of a team in the future:

https://gamebattles.majorleaguegaming.com/

On this page you can find other players with whom you can not only play call of duty but also other games such as overwatch, warcraft and the entire call of duty series. On this page there are also tournaments with which you can play with your friends and in case you don’t have them the page will group you with other players

“They’re trying their best” Says Unsung Hero of Covid-19 in Childcare

Covid-19 has affected all workplaces in a variety of ways but most places go unheard due to their lack of newsworthiness.  Nineteen-year-old teacher’s assistant, Kimberly Marzariagos, goes on to describe her challenges as she juggles taking care of children while abiding by the covid-19 regulations.

Despite the ordeals within her job, Kimberly is assured that, so long as people abide by Covid-19 regulations, life can eventually return to some sort of normalcy and everyone can feel at ease with this pandemic.

Social Media and ED Culture

It is no secret that social media has taken over the social landscape of today’s teens. In my research, I aimed to examine the parasocial relationship between eating disorder culture and various social media platforms. I interviewed my best friend Isabel to have a candid discussion about how social media can inadvertently cause eating disorders and the renormalization of “thinspo.” This is a newsworthy topic because there has been a resurgence of pro-eating disorder content on social media with the rise of the app Tik Tok, making it an extremely prevalent issue.

“It went from Tumblr to ED Twitter to tik tok, everyone  body checking themselves and like TW anorexia, TW ed TW self-harm like everything having to do with the body image on Tik Tok can be so harmful to people.”

Tumblr was a haven for eating disorders in teens. Has TikTok replaced it?

The incidence of eating disorders has been steadily increasing since 1950, NEDA reports. This includes eating disorders among adolescents. Each decade since 1930, the number of anorexia nervosa cases among young women ages 15 to 19 has increased. In addition, the incidence of bulimia in women between the ages of 10 and 39 tripled between 1988 and 1993. Anorexia statistics for teen girls and young women are especially alarming: For females between 15 and 24 years old who suffer from anorexia nervosa, the mortality rate associated with the illness is 12 times higher than the death rate of all other causes of death.

Covid-19 is a huge issue and not knowing a lot about the pandemic was scary for not only patients but for the doctors and nurses as well. But as a team they came together to create the very best patient care they were able to give.
