Fanaticism, An Excuse For Good And Evil.
“You can change your home, your city, your country and even your wife but you can’t change your club.” This is a quote I’ve heard since I was a toddler. Something that might seem so try hard, forced, and even cringe worthy is a reality for millions around the world. Stories of fans ‘overtaking’ a city or traveling ridiculous distances to support their team are just some of the things sport fans are willing to do for support their team.
Now I want to be a bit biased, I don’t think any sport has such a passionate fan base as soccer. I’m lucky to know someone who will do pretty much anything for his club Boca Juniors. But that’s actually something that could’ve ended in a bad way. His dad was involved with La Doce, Boca Junior’s biggest and dangerous group of fans. Sadly, thats not something new in Buenos Aires, especially in its poor areas where the gang-like mentality of La Doce’s members runs rampant and with little to none real opposition from authorities. This hooligan group is one that uses violence and bribes to get their way. Not only were they involved in some ilegal activities regarding club memberships but they also have been responsible for numerous deaths due to their street fights with other club’s fan groups. This is a very deal in South America but especially in Argentina a ban still exist for visitor fans to enter rival stadiums. Unfortunately, this type of groups are even involved with the teams’ administrations and are in constant more than questionable deals.
Let’s just hope that more fans take the non violent route just like my friend and many others and we can rid this beautiful sport from the toxic environment gangs like La Doce can create when their focus is not the sport but to cause terror and prevent normal fans and especially kids from enjoying the game they love.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MODERN CONSERVATIVE RABBI
by Samuel Rowland
Today, we are speaking with a local Conservative rabbi : Rabbi Dana Z. Bogatz, who has been a Rabbi for twenty years and the head rabbi at First Hebrew Congregation in Peekskill, New York for the past four years. She is also the congregation’s first female Rabbi in since its founding over 100 years ago. Conservative Jews – or the Masorti as they are often called outside of North America – are not a group of Jews with right wing political ties, but the most recently formed major Jewish denomination. The name refers instead to how the movement strives to conserve Jewish tradition. However, they believe that part of that tradition is a flexible and organic system of religious laws that evolve with the times while still keeping up a connection to the core teachings of the Torah. Thus, they see the larger Reform movement as too disconnected from traditional Judaism and the more insular Orthodox as too unwilling to change, to oversimplify their relationships and ideologies greatly.
Though they are outnumbered by the Reform movement in the US, the Conservative movement provide an interesting look on how modern Western religious scholars, as well as the average person, tried to find a way to reconcile religious tradition and modern life.

HELPFUL HINTS FOR AUTISM BY AN AUTISTIC KID
In the interview Wesley Cancro discusses some challenges Autistic kids have in school. He further discusses how Autistic kids can be helped by the staff in schools. Wesley talk abouts how important skills have been impacted by his development.
Wesley Cancro stated, ” When I was a toddler I never crawled I simply went from not being able to walk or crawl. I just suddenly got off my chair one day and just started walking around. When it comes to the crawling stage its a crucial role of development because when a toddler crawls they’re flatting out their hands which leads to better development , proper hand writing and knot tying. Since I skipped I have very poor hand writing I still have a very hard time with it today. I still have a difficulty with tying knots. It really is very hard to do both things with that skipped stage.”
Wesley informs society of the best way to help Autistic kids outside of school.
Wesley further states, ” The community can help out in many ways. They can spread the word on social media especially for Autism Awareness month which is every April. They can donate money to the Autism Society of America or Autism Speaks.”
