A legendary NBA player, named Kawhi Leonard, along with the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, have been accused of funneling payments under the table to Leonard, so they can avoid the mandated “salary cap” and have an advantage on other teams who don’t use this illegal loophole.

Along with this, Kalland ties in his own reporting with another sports journalist named Pablo Torre. We learn that up to about a week ago, the Los Angeles Clippers owner was deemed mostly innocent, because there were no ties to him and the “under the table” payments occurring to the player. However, Pablo Torre was able to dig up that the owners name “Steve Balmer”, was directly listed under the LLC of the company making these illegal payments. Since this reporting occurred, the story has taken off again. This is why the media used is interactivity, since it ties in multiple news reporting and timelines.
C – This type of reporting is aimed towards sports fans, mainly NBA fans. The main news element used is relevance. This is because if the alleged payments actually occurred, then it greatly calls into question the integrity of the people in power of sports organizations. If one simple payment occurred without including it towards the mandated league salary cap, then it not only creates a distrustful image of those who make decisions within basketball, but all sports as well. The sub news element used is prominence. This is because the billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Clippers who was accused, is not only one of the richest men in the world, but is involved in multiple multi-billion dollar organizations. The reporting makes you think that if this type of corruption is happening at the top of the power pyramid, then it must be trickling down as well.
Hello Jayson. Wow this story is pretty crazy. I love the NBA and I had no idea this happened. I am sure stuff like this happens all the time unfortunately but this one got out to the public and maybe the league can use this to try to put a stop to corruption in sports. I would agree with you that this story is relevance because if it was just about sports it would be interests but this goes bigger than sports and people need to know stuff like this is happening. I also agree that it is prominence because both Kawaii and the Clippers owner are very famous.

This situation is one of those if I could do it I would in order to keep my superstar happy, it’s just that they got caught lol. Anyways, I agree that the article is interactive, I would like to see example of why it is interactive such as internet blog or webpage. The aim is much for sports fans props to that comment. I agree with your main news element “relevance” because it shows possible cheating in an sports. This questions the integrity of sports organizations on what lengths they would take to win championships.

When famous figures like Kawhi and Steve Ballmer are involved is puts the whole league at risk of reputational damage. I enjoyed viewing how you identified prominence as the categorical sub-element. As this story is related to a powerhouse industry. However, several reports have deemed this investigation speculation. West Coast affiliated Lakers have been known for similar if not worse allegations. Thank goodness for East Coast Teams (just kidding). I respect your decision to utilize relevance as audiences may need this information for personal purposes. However, usefulness I think would of portrayed a better role.
