The story from Tomas van Houtryve’s website that I chose to read was called “Mine Eats City”. It was about Cerro de Pasco, a city in Peru which is four centuries old and is slowly disappearing because of a gigantic manmade mine that keeps growing in the heart of the city. Not only is the mine eating away at Cerro de Pasco’s structures, landscape, and civilization, but it is also taking a toll on the health of the people who live there. Many of the natives, mostly children, have been infected with lead by breathing it in, and by drinking water which has been polluted from mine tailings. One type of multimedia that Tomas used for his story was a total of 28 photos, which he took himself, that really show the many consequences that were a result of the mine being created. He also added three links leading to different websites, including National Geographic, that go deeper into his story.
The MLK Freedom Library is located in the Thomas H. Slater Center in White Plains, NY and it has a lot of books about Martin Luther King, as well as other famous African-American people. I have been a volunteer there since late 2013 and in the last few years I have learned so much about African-American history from the people who work there, especially Barbara Mair, the person I interviewed. She opened the library in 2009 and has been in charge of it ever since. For more information on the MLK Freedom Library, click here.
The podcast I listened to was called “Everything You Need to Know About the Survivor Game Changers Cast”. It was hosted by former Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino on his website, Rob Has A Podcast, which features podcasts about many reality TV shows. In the podcast I heard, Rob, along with journalist Josh Wigler, and his mom, Rose-Anne Cesternino, talked about their opinions on the cast of the upcoming 34th season of Survivor, which is called Survivor: Game Changers.
Like traditional radio, they were reviewing something that’s going to be on TV and voicing their thoughts on what could happen. However, it was incredibly focused on one show for most the time. Speaking of which, the podcast ran for almost an hour and forty minutes, which is different from traditional radio because most radio programs don’t last longer than an hour. Also, there weren’t any songs or commercials in the podcast at any time, although Rob did talk about one of his sponsors before he called in his mom.
I personally enjoyed the podcast because Survivor is one of my favorite shows and I’m really looking forward to watching the new season. I liked how Rob, Josh, and Rose-Anne talked about all the contestants, who are all returning players. However, I would’ve like to hear them say a little more about some of the people that weren’t discussed as much as others.

I recently found a news story on CNN about Disney revealing that the next Star Wars movie coming in December will be titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The revelation left several fans of the franchise curious and wanting to find out more on what Episode VIII has in store for them.
There were three different kinds of multimedia components I found within the article: print, video (with audio), and interactivity. The print aspect basically told me that the story was about the naming of the new movie and at the end it mentioned the theatrical release date and who would be starring in the movie. The video in the article talked about how some the features within Star Wars were based off of other movies, yet people still enjoy the franchise. However, while I thought the video was informative and interesting, I didn’t think it really fit into the actual story. In terms of interactivity, there were some links, and even some posts taken from Twitter, that did relate to the article in certain ways. For example, the very last sentence has a link that goes to a separate story about the death of actress Carrie Fisher, who will be shown in the upcoming movie reprising her role of General Leia Organa.
If I could add or change two things about the article I would add some questions that Star Wars fans posted on Twitter and change the video to something that fits into what the article was talking about.
