Something New is Cooking up Westchester County

Food always finds a way to bring people together, and now there is a new place to gather and enjoy Latin food and drinks. Talú Cocina Latina opened October 15, 2025 in Mohegan Lake, bringing modern Latin cuisine. Co-owner Samantha shares the vision behind the new restaurant, giving us details on the process and challenges.

Talú Cocina Latina, a newly opened modern Latin restaurant in Mohegan Lake, aims to introduce a Tulum-inspired dining experience through fresh flavors, natural energy, and a strong sense of community. Co-owner Samantha says the restaurant blends years of experience in the food industry with a mission to bring authentic Latin culture to Westchester County.

 Samantha dives into the meaning behind the restaurant’s name, explains how the menu was inspired by Tulum, Mexico, and its natural energy and by dishes from multiple Latin American regions. She hopes customers feel transported the moment they walk in.

She expresses how opening the business wasn’t easy, perfecting flavors, coordinating chefs, and finalizing details were the biggest challenges. Once they opened, there was a sense of relief, their journey has begun.

This is new restaurant plans to bring in a whole new taste to Mogehan Lake, New York, from culturally diverse food and drinks, to live music events. There are various approaches this new restaurant will take to bring in costumers such as events, food, drinks, good service, but most important a pleasant dining experience.

  • ABOUT YOU: After searching myself on Google I realized I don’t have a large social media presence, the first and honestly only thing you can find about me is my LinkedIn and Facebook profile. For my Facebook I don’t have a bio at all, and I only use it as a personal account to connect with family and friends. For my LinkedIn I have a small profile and bio, I have information such as current and previous jobs, education, and skills. My biography is informational to an extent, I only feature skills learned in my jobs that are not related to my major, I plan to change this. Now I do not have a professional photo. Other social medias such as Instagram and X, are for personal use and I don’t display my full name on their which is why they don’t show up on google search.
  • CONTENT: I am not very active on LinkedIn but some pages that I showed interest in and have followed aligned with my future dream job as a radiologist.
  • FREQUENCY: I am not a very active person on social media, I usually post on my Instagram, but I tend to do stories rather than a post that will stay up.
  • PERSONALITY: Since I usually post on Instagram, I will say my posts can vary from family, music, friends, and social issues I am passionate about.
  • PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: To be honest this is something I haven’t done in any of my medias.
  • JOURNALISM SKILLS: I will say this doesn’t apply to me as I am not very active or as engaging in my social medias.
