Espinal – Houtryve ASSIGNMENT

The article/gallery that I chose from Tomas Houtryve was “Blue Sky Days”. This gallery shows locations where drone strikes from the U.S government are most likely to target in the middle east. Most of the people in these photographs are enjoying the little intricacies in life that distract us from the real world. Whether it be taking a stroll in the park, playing sports with your friends, or even praying to whatever god you believe in. These pictures show us humanity, but it also gives perspective on the crippling anxiety that is put upon these citizens. Due to the actions of few in middle eastern countries, innocent people are the ones who have to play the ultimate price. Houtryve explains this in his excerpt when he quotes Zubair Rehman, a 13-year-old who was injured from a drone strike in 2013.”In fact, I now prefer gray skies. The drones do not fly when the skies are gray.” America is fighting fire with fire, and at some point, you have to sit back and ponder the idea if the U.S is approaching this whole situation the right way.
