This decision comes after the Giants started the season with a 0-3 record with Russel Wilson at the helm. The outcomes over the past couple of seasons have not been what fans or the organization have wanted, and a change was inevitable.

Management went out and got three new quarterbacks in the offseason. Veterans Russel Wilson and Jameis Winston were obtained through free agency, while rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was selected with the 25th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

After the rough start, fans demanded the switch during Sunday, September 21st, loss to the Chiefs. Tyler Henry, writer for Giants Wire, expected the change coming, saying, “I actually texted a friend in the third quarter, and I said I think it’s happening next week.”

He goes into more in the full unedited interview below:

Jaxson Dart’s debut will be on Sunday, September 28, against the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach Daboll has a lot of pressure on himself to ensure that Dart performs well. Following the game, the fans and management are very happy. They believe they have finally found their franchise quarterback.

Through the air, Jaxson Dart put up 111 yards on 13 completions with a touchdown. On the ground, he ran 10 times for 54 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, the Giants were able to get their first win of the season over a competent Chargers team, giving them hope for the first time this year.

LAPIETRA-SOCIAL MEDIA AUDIT RESULTS

ABOUT YOU: Are your bios informative and consistent across platforms? Do they tell us who you are? Does a professional photo accompany your bios?

My bios are not informative and consistent across all platforms. To start, I have 3 main social media accounts: Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. I do have an X account, but it is what people call a “burner account.” That means it is an anonymous account where my identity is hidden. The reason for that is that I do not really use X to tweet things out; I just use it for news. The only bio that is informative and tells people who I am is on my LinkedIn. I have a nice bio on there with a professional photo from my high school graduation. On TikTok, I do not have a bio, and my profile picture is just a photo of me. On Instagram, the only thing in my bio is “NY,” and I have a picture of myself as my profile picture. So, only LinkedIn has all of those criteria.

CONTENT: What type of content do you typically share? Is it an accurate reflection of your interests as a journalist? Of your general interests? Both?

On Instagram, I share personal photos of myself with friends and family. It is not an accurate representation of me as a journalist, but I do repost things that are interesting to me, like sports or movie-related content. I repost reels that I enjoy watching on TikTok, but I am not active on there and do not post any original videos or photos. For LinkedIn, I post personal accomplishments and repost things I find interesting or useful. However, I mainly use it for networking and internship searching as of now. My social media accounts are more of a reflection of my general interests, rather than my interests as a journalist, and I do not share a lot of content.

FREQUENCY: How often do you post on each platform? How often do you engage with followers?

I pretty much never post on the platforms besides reposts. My last Instagram post was in August of 2024, but I have been meaning to post more as of late, as I only have 6 posts in total, and some of them are pretty old. I have never posted a TikTok video, but I have been exploring the possibility of doing short clips talking about movies or sports and posting them on TikTok. For LinkedIn, I will only really post when I achieve something and I want others to hear about it. I engage with my LinkedIn followers the most as I am always trying to connect and reach out to people. For Instagram, I will like and reply to comments when I post something. Overall, I need to post more, but I believe I am pretty good at engaging with my followers, especially on LinkedIn.

PERSONALITY: What do your posts say about you? Do we get a sense of you as a person?

My posts really do not give a good sense of me as a person. As stated, on Instagram, I only really post pictures of myself with family and friends. I guess the only thing that it shows is that I like to spend time with them. On LinkedIn, I post professional achievements that can show that I am goal-oriented, which is true.

PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS: What about your professional interests? Have you highlighted your journalism skills and career aspirations?

The only account where my professional interests, journalism skills, and career aspirations are located is on my LinkedIn account. I have a clear bio with my career aspirations. I follow many professional accounts on LinkedIn, especially ones that I would be interested in working for. This is because my LinkedIn is really my only professional social media account. My other accounts are more personal accounts, although, as stated, I think I am going to try to turn my TikTok into a professional account.

JOURNALISM SKILLS: Speaking of skills, do posts show any sign that you use social media for finding story ideas and sources, sharing interesting content—including your own reporting—and engaging with your followers?

I would say on my Instagram account. I do not really do any of my own reporting, but I do repost a lot of content from various professional accounts. So, in a way, I am sharing interesting content through Instagram. Other than that, I do not really display any journalism skills on my social media accounts, but it is something I should implement because I am considering going into that field.

LAPIETRA- MMJ EXAMPLE

Summary:

This MMJ Example is from NBC News, and it is about Erik and Lyle Menendez. The brothers murdered their parents all the way back in 1989 and have been in prison ever since. The article details how the Menendez brothers tried to get a new trial started by presenting new evidence to the judge. The evidence that their legal team tried to present was a letter written when Erik was a teenager about how his father sexually abused him. Another piece of evidence was allegations from a band member who said that Erik and Lyle’s father, Jose Menendez, sexually abused him when he was a teenager. The judge ultimately denied their plea for a new trial because he said that the evidence would not result in a lesser offense.

A) What about the story made it worthwhile enough for me to choose?

I am really interested in high-profile cases like this. Over the past year, I have become really interested in the Menendez brothers and this case. It is mostly because of the limited series and the documentary that was released about them. It made me sympathize with their story, and like a lot of people, I want them to be released, as I feel they committed the murders out of fear of what their parents would do to them. I chose this story because when I saw it, I was drawn to it, and it was the only story that resonated with me.

B) What types of Multimedia were used by the reporter to tell the story?

The reporters used print, video, and interactivity to tell this story. They used words and texts to tell the story. There is a short video on the top of the page that was pulled from a newscast. They used interactivity because there were many links or hyperlinks used throughout the article that take you to other related articles.

C) Audience

I think the audience is for people like me who have been following the case or people who are interested in high profile cases.

Main News Element: Interest

I believe the main news element of this story is interest. I say this because there are many people in the world who want to know what is happening with the brothers. It is not relevance because you do not actually need to know this and your life will not be effected by it. It is not usefulness because it does not really offer anything that can help the audience. As stated, it is interest because people want to know it.

Sub News Element: Prominence

The sub news element of this story is prominence. It is prominence because the brothers are famous figures. The trial following the murders was everywhere during that time. Their popularity has only risen in the past year because a limited series and documentary was released about them and millions watched it. So it is prominence because they are famous and people want to know about them.
